Tree Trimming ServiceTree trimming is done to improve the appearance of a tree. Many property owners have trees on their property for their aesthetic appeal. Good tree trimming can have trees looking their best. While pruning is done primarily for the health of a tree and secondarily for the appearance of a tree, tree trimming is primarily done to improve the appearance of the tree and secondarily for the health of a tree. The difference is subtle but significant. When an arborist decides what part of a tree to remove and where to remove the tree, they have to decide based on the goal of the intervention. When the goal is trimming, specific techniques are used to ensure that the tree grows in the most visually appealing way. Trimming away overgrowth for example, may not endanger the tree's health, but branches growing at odd angles and directions may not be the desired look a property owner wants for their tree. A experience arborist can consult with a property owner to discuss goals and aims for their trees.

Tree CareTree care is the improvement or maintenance of the look, shape and growth of a tree. It encompasses everything related to a tree from planting to maintenance, to removal. In their natural state trees do not need humans to thrive and flourish. But trees in the human environment are not left on their own, they are apart of and interact with the built environment in complex ways. Sometime the ways trees are affected by human activity require that that receive care from us that they would not need otherwise. In specific instances tree care can mean simply matching the right tree for the right environment to be in. It does not make sense for example to plant or all to grow without pruning or trimming in a small backyard or close to a house. Some trees are just a lot of work, dropping lots of leaves in the fall and flowers and fruits like spring and summer and lots of loose branches in the winter. One central aspect of tree care is the knowledge of what a tree will do based on its species and environment and how to manage that for a desired result that is best for the tree and the property owner.
Land & Lot ClearingLand and lot clearing involve removing from a property trees and brush that are not wanted. Land clearing requires much planning and preparation and is accomplished in several phases. The first phase of land clearing determining which trees, rocks, roots and other debris need to be removed. Next standing trees are felled, then the larger trees and brush are removed, finally holes are filled in and the land graded where necessary.
The costs that go into land clearing include, land grading, standing tree removal, fallen tree removal, brush removal, labor, and equipment. Land clearing averages around $2500 nationally with a range of $1000 to $5000, based on the average sized parcel to be cleared. |
Stump Grinding & Stump removal
Stump grinding is the process of removing stumps using a machine with a spinning blade that tears away at the stump turning it into chips. Stump grinding is an efficient way to remove stumps as it is less labor intense and potentially destructive to the area around the stump. Stump grinding does leave the roots in the ground; if the roots need to to be removed in addition to the stump stump grinding is not the appropriate removal metod.
Tree Maintenance
Thought many trees can do fine on their own with little attention, for optimal growth and maximum longevity, trees need to be regularly maintained. The most common forms of tree maintenance are tree pruning and pest and disease control. Tree maintenance also often includes, identifying dangerous trees, preventing decay, dead wood, and cracks. Signs of hazardous tree can be subtle, and an arborist is best qualified to diagnose them. Regular maintenance prevent bigger more expensive problems in the future.
Ideally tree maintenance is comprehensive and begins when trees are young (arborists can tell you the age and type of tree you have and how big they are expected to get). It begins with planting the appropriate tree for the environment it will be in. The right amount of sun soil moisture and type all play a role here. Young trees also need to be watered. This may seem odd when you consider that trees in nature are not water by human beings, but if you want the trees on your property to survive, they may need more attention. Sometimes rain just isn't enough for a given tree. Trees, especially newly planted and young trees benefit from regular mulching. Mulching simulates the organic matter trees have covering their roots in the forest. It protects tree roots from weeds and helps water, nutrients, and oxygen get to them more easily. In nature, trees also gain nutrients through the plant mater about them. In our urban environment we keep the leaves and decaying plant matter away from trees. This can be compensated by providing fertilizer to the trees. Arborists are able to test the soil to see if there are any nutrients deficiencies or imbalances. A critical part of tree maintenance is regular pruning and trimming. There are various pruning methods all appropriate to specific circumstances. Major pruning is best done in the winter when trees are dormant then in the summer, more minor pruning of smaller branches should be done.

Tree Pruning
Tree pruning the practice of cutting away damaged, dead, or diseased parts of a tree in order to promote the health and growth of the tree. Tree in the landscaped environment need more care than trees in the wild because they are under conditions that are not adapted to and therefore under more stress. All trees can benefit from pruning, both mature and immature trees. Pruning can be done in order to remove dead branches, increase the flow of light and air through the tree's crown, or to correct or prevent problems. There are several pruning approaches, including cleaning, raising, reduction and density reduction. In cleaning, dead, diseased, dying, weak, and sluggish branches are removed from the tree's crown. With raising. branches lower on the tree are removed with the goal of adding space beneath it for humans and our structures. Reduction is a healthy alternative to tree topping. In tree topping the crown of a tree is lopped off leaving stunted branches attached to the trunk. Tree topping shortens the life of a tree, which eventuates in removal, which is neither good for the tree nor the property owner. Reduction on the other hand, helps the tree keep its shape and structure. In reduction the trees height is reduced, by cutting only branches that are big and strong enough to be terminals. Density reduction is also sometimes known as thinning. The foliage and peripheral branches are cut away to increase the amount of light and air that flows through the crown. It also spurs the growth of foliage within the crown.
